A Week Already?

It is hard to believe that a week ago right now I was driving down to La Jolla with my family on the way to COSMOS. It definitely seems like I have been here for much longer. Last time I posted was on Thursday afternoon, quite a while ago. On Thursday night the COSMOlympic Games were held. The Games were made up of a cheer contest, knowledge bowl, pie eating contest and relay races. My cluster placed 4th out of the 7 clusters, but nevertheless it was a very fun experience. I know everyone at COSMOS had his/her voice by the time the Games were over.

Friday marked the last day of classes of what seemed like a very long week. In the morning we had a few lectures, which built on our C programming skills and general topics related to computer science. We had a special lunch with Dr. Tu, the Director of COSMOS, in the engineering building. That afternoon we had more lab time, where we began programming a new PSoC device. After only a few tries, I was able to get the device to work successfully. After free time and dinner on Friday night, we had a few activities to choose from. I decided to play kickball, which was fine, but I should have gone swimming, which nearly all of the COSMOS kids decided to do. Later that night the RAs purchased In-n-Out for everyone, but as a vegetarian, the grilled cheese sandwich was not nearly as amazing as the burgers were said to be.

Finally, it was the weekend. Saturday morning I slept in and even missed breakfast. I did my laundry that morning, which I am not used to doing at home. That afternoon we all went to Knott's Berry Farm in Buena Park. After a bus ride that was nearly 2 hours, we arrived at the park and had around 6 hours to explore. I went on the Ghost Rider, Sidewinder, two of the water rides and a few other rides. Knott's was fun, but the lines were rather long, which meant I spent most of the afternoon waiting. After a thrilling afternoon, we got back on campus at around midnight

Today, Sunday, I slept in, but I woke up in time for breakfast so I would not be hungry all morning. Later today we will be going to the beach, then having a Jello tonight.
