The first week

The first week is over and we are starting on the second. The highlights of the week were the Rubik's Cube(R) competition, watching Mike, our cluster R.A., "juggle fire", (It was better than fireworks, at least the ones in Davis), playing truth or dare in the suite commons, swimming at the beach and pool, playing calculator games with the other students on the bus to the beach, etc..... there was a lot. We had two people at the Rubik's competition, who both did really well, but I don't think they got better than 11:22, which was the best time there. The Jello(R) fight was somewhat fun, but it should have been with real Jello(R) instead of the watery, inedible goop that we threw around. The beach that day was fun, but I think I swallowed a lot of water, since it tasted REALLY salty. I may have gone the farthest out though. (The group I was with went out to a buoy, right by where the lifeguard boat was.) Cluster 1 also SHOULD have won the pie (pudding) and definitely won the balloon toss, but for some reason we didn't get any place in the COSMOlympics. Cluster 5, which did get a place, cleaned up stuff SUSPICIOUSLY fast, though.
I have currently almost completely learned how to solve a Rubik's Cube(R). The labs we've done in class have been really fun and hands-on, and the only academic irk that I had is what I thought was that most of the "Discovery" Lectures have been too hard, too easy, or the people have seemed to have a ridiculous idea.

Oh yeah, and the parrot that Arash, one of the assistants, brought in was really cool.

This is the 65th post on this blog.
