New Horizons

This weekend I have tried many things that I usually do not. I have crossed into a new land, and the adventure has been fantastic! There has been a lot of change in one week.

I'll start off where I left off on my last blog. We went swimming and it was a blast! I had a fun time. Although I did get a pretty bad cramp in my leg, I still enjoyed it. When we returned from the pool, we had cold In N Out shakes waiting for us, along with fries.

On Saturday, I finally got some much needed sleep. I woke up at 9:30 and got rid of my tiredness. However, I was not at rest because I was still thinking about one of my fears: roller coasters. When we went to lunch, I was "trembling" just talking about the drops and speed of the rides. But you'll be glad to know, I conquered my fear.

The bus ride to Knott's was very fun. I was listening to music the whole way. I especially enjoyed it because we passed by my house, and it helped to relieve some of the "homesickness," that all of us are experiencing. When we reached Knott's, Avneesh and I grabbed a map and headed to Jaguar.

At first, I wasn't sure if I wanted to even get on. However, thanks to Avneesh, I sat in the cart, and had the time of my life. This was the perfect coaster: Not too scary, but very fun to ride! I think all of my peers would agree that this was the most enjoyable ride. Out of all the coasters I rode, this was my favorite.

Next, we met up with Vivek, Varun, and Rishi to head to Pony Express. This is the newest ride at Knott's and we wanted to experience it. When we reached the ride, it looked very "interesting," and thought we would give it a try.

Pony Express was not scary at all, but it did hurt your back and chest, because the seats are not that comfortable. After Pony Express, we walked around a bit to look at the other rides. I think we rode Jaguar a couple more times, and Calico Mines.

After that, I took a risk and hopped onto the Sierra Sidewinder. This is definetely when I stepped into a new horizon. Although it was slightly scary, Sierra Sidewinder was fun and thrilling. I knew that I was on my way to ride even crazier roller coasters.
Some other rides we tried were Log Ride and Baloon Race. Although at this visit, I did not try Xcelerator, Ghost Rider, nor Silver Bullet, I know that slowly I will "conquer" those rides as well.

Well, that was one of the steps into a new horizon, but I did have another step into a new horizon. This one was more symbolic that literal, however it still represents a change. Now, don't laugh, but I successfully did my own laundry!

So how does this represent a step into a new horizon? Well, it shows that through COSMOS I have gained responsbility and life skills, such as doing my own laundry. Although I have done laundry at home occasionally, this was different. I had no help from my parents, and completed every step on my own. I am pretty sure that this was probably one of the first times for other guys as well.

As you can see, this weekend was an adventure for me in many ways. Tomorrow, my other adventure continues, in Embedded Computer Systems. That caps off the first full week at COSMOS summer camp. It has passed by so quickly, but it will stay with me forever.

Well, I'm off to lunch. Good bye!
